Selling For Dummies

By nature, human beings are somewhat vain creatures who want to look good in front of others. People who take a little pride in their appearance like to wear clothes and accessories which are fashionable and trendy. Shop-front displays all over the UK show customers exactly what the latest fashion trends are by way of visual merchandising. Successful marketing for retailers is all about identifying exactly what customers want and then presenting it in the most appealing way. When it comes to presenting clothes and garments, few methods are as effective as the tried and trusted display mannequin.  These life-like clothes horses are familiar to all shoppers and, unlike clothes hanging on a rail, they can present customers with a more complete image of the overall style they are looking to attain.

Although not an exact science, it is very important for retailers to get the display and choice of mannequin right. Every feature of a mannequin display, from the pose, to the hair, to the skin colour, needs to positively project the category or style of garments on display. For example, mannequins displayed in a top end boutique or department store should be stylish and elegant full body forms so that they can be used to project formal and refined poses, whereas those used in sports shops need only be partial forms or minimalist full body forms in dynamic poses.

A well presented mannequin retail display will attract customers, whereas a poorly configured display will only have the reverse effect.
